Health and wellness
- The magnesium is absorbed through your skin, therefore the #1 use is in the bath tub or as foot soak. Add 2 cups of epsom salts to a warm bath and soak for 15 minutes for any of the following:
- Great in winter to sooth coughs and congestion - use at first sign of a cold.
- Relax the nerves and erase stress from the day for a good night's sleep.
- Relieve tension headaches.
- Aid healing of cuts, scrapes and wounds.
- Ease muscle ache from strain or overuse; soothe sprains and bruises.
- Draw out infection or help remove splinters. Use a local soak if easier i.e. soak a cut on your hand in a small bowl
For your Beauty
- Use as a natural face cleanser.
- Exfoliate your skin.
- Adds volume to your hair.
In your home
- Indoor and outdoor plants thrive from the minerals - bath water is ideal for reusing here, alternatively sprinkle around the plant.
- Wash pots and pans - Pour a small amount of Epsom salts into those really-dirty dishes before you scrub them. The abrasive texture of the salt crystals will help to remove stuck-on food.
- Removes Detergent Build-up - Over time, laundry detergent and other contaminants may build up inside machines. Use Epsom salts to remove the build-up in your washing machine. Simply fill your empty washing machine with hot water, add a quart of clear vinegar and one cup of Epsom salts, let the machine agitate for about a minute, then stop the cycle and let the solution soak for about an hour.
In the garden
- Fertilise your plants - sprinkle around your vegetables for increased nutrient absorption.
- Add to the soil when planting to Improve seed germination.
- Sprinkle around plants and bushes to green up foliage - magnesium is used to produce chlorophyll.
- Sprinkle in the vegetable garden to deter garden pests and prevent slugs.
- Grow tastier tomatoes and avoid rot. Sprinkle around the stem fortnightly as tomatoes require a higher mineral requirement.
- Have the best roses on the street - sprinkle around bushes in early spring and when in full bloom.
